The Great Cleansing
Yesterday, as I watched the grand Cathedral of Notre Dame burning and the spire crumbling in great smoke, I felt a wave of gratitude wash over me. Why gratitude you ask? How can one be grateful for what appeared to be a tragedy for a country and Catholics everywhere? There was also a fire in another house of worship in Jerusalem, a mosque that also experienced fire at the same time. That story is chronicled here Fire is the element that purifies. Of the four Elements, it is the most misunderstood. Fire appears to destroy and consume whatever it touches. Ah, fire is more, much more. It reduces whatever it touches to its basic element; and offers those elements an opportunity to build anew; to fashion a whole new construct from the ashes. What occurred with the fires in these two houses of worship is a grand cleansing of the collective soul that is Humanity. A great portion of the dross of separation was burnt away.
