A real short story

Image
He never spoke a word. From the day he was born, he never spoke one single word. He was tested and proved not to be deaf. He simply did not speak. Laughter was the only sounds he would utter. He laughed at almost every opportunity. He laughed when he heard birds singing, when the wind rustled among the trees, whenever he saw a butterfly he would double over with the purest laughter until tears flowed from his beautiful brown eyes. His parents defended him with all their might when friends and relatives suggested somehow something was wrong with him. They would point out that he had an extremely high IQ, his scores were perfect on all the tests given him by teachers and psychiatrists; he did all the work given him in school flawlessly. He would communicate everything by writing, and started doing this at the age of eighteen months. He was tall for his age, standing at five feet seven inches and he was only six years old. His curly black hair was allowed to grow and mopp...

We Hold These Truths…

Image
“We hold these truths” are the first four words of the declaration of independence of the United States. The declaration went on to list equality, freedom and the pursuit of happiness as the inalienable right of every human being. Those four words have been rattling around in my head for a few days now. They had something more to say than the obvious meaning we all take so much for granted. They transcend the human condition and place humanity within the realms of the Divine. As Divine beings we are first and foremost free. We get to choose the life we live, and the experiences we have in any given incarnation. Every human being is equal to every other human being because of our Divine ancestry. Each person on the planet is perfectly capable of deciding how the experience of happiness is pursued. Beyond these basic characteristics of our innate divine nature is the grand ability, to create our world, endowed to each of us by our Creator.   We do this with every thought...

ALONE

Image
We walked down the road apiece You and I Touching shoulders, entwining lives Good times and bad Our lots we shared As we walked down the road apiece. Now down the road I walk alone No shoulder touching mine Our ways parted at the fork Separate roads to walk You to travel lands unknown Me still to trod the earth’s terrain. I loved you while we walked together I love you now, though you’re not here To bare the dust and grit and grime Of the road we shared Remembering this brings thoughts of joy And memories of tears. To know as only I can know To bear my cares alone Sans sweet sounds of your footfalls As I walk down the road apiece Alone.

A Bump along The Way

“He who is established in oneness, and whose vision is everywhere, sees the self in all beings, and all beings in the self.” Bhagavad Gita I have not been active on this blog for a few weeks now. Some of my faithful readers have wondered if I was slacking off or was something awry with me. Here’s the truth. My body has been undergoing changes lately which have slowed most of my activities. That allowed me to watch a lot of television. Naturally this week it was the political activities going in Cleveland. Viewing these seemingly hateful and spiteful words caused me to think of the one being of which we are all a part. Thus the above quote from sacred text flowed through my consciousness. The physician said I was low in vitamin D and my blood sugar was alarmingly high. I am ingesting medication to remedy those two events and am feeling much better; I am happy to report. It has been far too hot to spend the recommended 15 minutes in the sun each day. All told it is not so...

The Power ofTwelve

Image
The number twelve has tremendous power and meaning for the human race. It is the number of the dimension through which the human being must travel to fully integrate the divine aspect of self with the human aspect of the one self. When the Arabic numeral for that power is displayed; it is a design that triggers spark of the light within the human DNA to shine. Thoughts of twelve also trigger the light; this reminds us that we are beings of light. The significance of this primal number has been given to us throughout our history. We engrave our cultural stories with the number twelve and our great heroes are somehow associated with the great number. To understand the importance of the number twelve is to go a long way toward understanding the enormous power we have to transform ourselves and our world. To help us we have made the symbol for that transformation an integral part of our everyday culture. There are twenty-four hours in our day; twice twelve. Jesus had twelve dis...
