Motivated By Spirit

To know God is to love God, which expands itself into love of self, expanding even further to include love of neighbor as self. This is the stuff of our dearest dreams;  yet we turn away from this love because we think there is harm within its folds. Love is kind, said one sage; this kindness wishes to become the modus operandi of all interactions here on planet earth. Kindness, gentleness and respect is the standard of conduct wherever equals meet. That is the underlying premise of the Great Love that is calling the children of earth to come home. That is to say, all are equal and have the same opportunity to heed the call. The nature of God lives within each one of us, that nature is creative, expansive, loving, gentle, giving and understand­ing. We are all of those things, and attributes that were not listed but are desired. A stream of gratitude is flowing through me this morning as I survey the life I have lived to this point. The small and great miracles that have strewn my path, the wonderful encounters with books, teachers, friends, loved ones, fellow travelers on the pathway to love, cause my heart to swell with the graciousness of the LIGHT that has brought me this far. There have been times when situations seemed impossible of solution, yet the solution was there. There were times when I had needs that I could not articu­late, and they were met even before I recognized they were there. The provision made for my one life is tremendous; yet this same provision has been made for every life. All that is needed has already been supplied . I find myself with almost every breath thinking "thank you God." There have been times when I thought that this provision was material in nature, but the life within holds so much more than can be made manifest on the physical plane ; and all of it...

I have a vision that is so clear within my mind. It is of clouds covering the earth. They are thick dark clouds everywhere prevent­ing the life giving rays of the sun fr om touching the earth.   Under this cover of the darkness, the earth is hurting with painful places everywhere. The inhabitants, who live under the shadow caused by the dark clouds, are not aware that there is such a thing as the sun. They eke at life, dressing for success, wearing power clothes, dancing to dirges, flirting with suicide in all its forms, dwelling in unfulfilled desires, insisting on calling it life. But some of earth inhabitants know, indeed there is a sun and the rays of this sun is constantly shining, but is being prevented from touching the earth because of the dark clouds. They have devised a way to penetrate the clouds; rise above them and bask in the light of the sun.      They have basked in many different ways. Before the incident aka cancer there was a special gathering for meditation at Unity. We were given cards spread across the floor and asked to contemplate the word written on the faced down paper. This exercise was repeated a few times and on the last time we were encouraged to keep the paper with the last word we had chosen. The word on that final piece of paper I took home in my purse. I thought about it for a few days afterwards and didn’t think about much after that. I keep my purse in the upturned lid of a large basket beside my couch. The paper must have fallen out somehow and remained there all this time. There are several bits of paper under the purse and sometimes I go through them to decide what to discard. I had not noticed the paper until today. As I laid my purse down, I picked up the paper and the word written on it leap ed out and grabbed my heart and held on. The word was VITALITY. There are times when the Presence of God in and around me, is very strong. Those are the times when I am very sure of my connections with all that is . Then I look away from that Presence, in a brief moment of following a stray thought, and the brilliance of the Presence dims ever so slightly. If I continue to pursue the thought, it leads to conjurings of past or future activities and the awareness dims even further. That is how the darkness begun for all of us. We took our attention from the Source of our beings, and placed it on that which we, in our great creativity, had made ; thus dimm ing our percep­tions of that Source to almost total darkness. The glory, might and majesty of the all of creating Source is still there, it never left us. We lost sight of who and what It is, leaving ourselves to sleep in a dream of evil and malcon­tent. Because we are loved, and because we are a part of the living God, atoms within the body of God, we cannot be lost. We may dream of bei...
